In a landscape where the jaguar is a symbol of strength and dominance, two women move through Brazil’s Pantanal tracing its presence — and, in doing so, confront the gendered boundaries that shape science, conservation, and the act of looking. As they learn to read the animal’s rosettes, they begin to recognize their own marks, understanding themselves as women alongside the jaguars they follow.
